REQUIREMENTS FOR INFANT BAPTIS:
Infant Baptism is for children from birth to those who've not yet turned 7years of age. If the child is 7 years old, they may not do Infant Baptism and would have to enroll in RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Children). *Ask to speak with Sylvia Alejandro, Coordinator of CCE.
All children who will be baptized must have at least one godparent.
If two godparents are chosen, it must be one male and one female.
The child's original birth certificate must be presented to the office in order to register for the sacrament.
Both parents must agree to baptize the child(children) and intend to raise the child in the Catholic Faith. *The exception is if the parent is considered as a "Single Parent."
REQUIREMENTS TO BE GODPARENT(S):
To be admitted to the role of godparent(s) must:
be at least 16 years of age
be a Catholic who has been confirmed as a Roman Catholic and has already received the sacrament of the Eucharist
leads a life in harmony with the faith and role to be undertaken
if married, must be married through the Catholic Church
if they are single, they must live a life that does not impede them from receiving the Holy Eucharist
not be the father or mother of the child being baptized
ENGLISH BAPTISM CLASS & CELEBRATION:
Both parent(s) (if not a single parent) and godparent(s) must attend the baptismal class, which is only ONE and is a requirement. The exception to taking the baptismal class is if baptismal classes were taken two years or less previously to the celebration date. This exception applies to either the parent(s) or godparent(s).
The Baptismal class is held every Second Saturday of the month. In Room A (building across our church office)
Time: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm.
The English Baptism Celebration is held every First Sunday of each month.
Time: 1:30 pm. *There will be no Baptismal Class or Celebration in the month of April.
In the month of April we will not have Baptismal Classes or Celebrations of the Sacrament due to conflicting dates falling on Holy Week.
Parents are asked to call the office at 713-686-3497 to make sure they meet the requirements necessary for the Sacrament of Baptism.
* To take the pre-baptismal classes and/or the baptismal celebration, the parent(s) of the child(children) to be baptized must register for them at the parish office. The office is open from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm.
