HOLY EUCHARIST:
The Eucharist is the heart and the summit of the Church's life, for in it Christ associates his Church and all her members with his sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving offered once for all on the cross to his Father; by this sacrifice, he pours out the grace of salvation on his Body which is the Church.
The child's readiness for the sacrament celebration is to be determined by the child, the parent, and the pastor or his delegate. The sacrament of Reconciliation should precede the reception of the Eucharist.
CLASSES
Children will usually celebrate the First Eucharist during the second grade if the child's religious education is on track. Older children (3rd & above) will be placed in the updated or R.C.I.A. program. Parents need to contact the religious education office for more information.
Scheduling
First Eucharist is celebrated in May, with a special Liturgy of the Eucharist.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
The Holy Eucharist is part of the Holy Saturday Celebration of the Resurrection of Christ at Easter. Adults attend weekly classes that prepare them to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation.
