The Eucharist is the heart and the summit of the Church's life, for in it Christ associates his Church and all her members with his sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving offered once for all on the cross to his Father; by this sacrifice he pours out the grace of salvation on his Body which is the Church.
The child’s readiness for the celebration of the sacrament is to be determined by the child, the parent, and the pastor or his delegate. The reception of the Eucharist should be preceded by the sacrament of Reconciliation.
Classes
Children will usually celebrate First Eucharist during the second grade, if the religious education of the child is on track. Older children (3rd & above) will be placed in the updated program or the R.C.I.A. program. Parents need to contact the religious education office for more information.
Scheduling
First Eucharist is celebrated in May, with a special Liturgy of the Eucharist.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults
The Holy Eucharist is part of the Holy Saturday Celebration of the Resurrection of Christ at Easter. Adults attend weekly classes in preparation to receive Baptism, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation.
